Hello! Welcome to the brand new dental implant blog of Christie Park Dental. For quite some time now, we’ve been working to find the best way to get the word out about dental implants to our many Toronto, ON area patients. After much debate, as well as some conversation with our many patients, we decided that speaking directly to our potential implant patients through this blog presented the best opportunity to talk about dental implants and other aspects that can contribute to the overall state of your oral health. To start things off, Dr. Andre Hughes is blogging from his office to talk to you about dental implants and some of the treatments we offer using them. With this information, we believe that our tooth restoration patients will have a better idea of which treatment might best fit their needs.
Whether you are missing a single tooth or a full arch of missing teeth, we can provide restorations using dental implants. Some of the potential restorations we can perform at our practice include:
Are you currently suffering from a single missing tooth? In this case, we can use a single implant fixture to restore your missing tooth. We will place an implant fixture in the empty spot left behind by your missing tooth. Once in place, osseointegration will work to integrate it into your oral anatomy. Once osseointegration has succeeded, an abutment will be attached to the fixture followed by the replacement tooth, completing the restoration.
For patients who are suffering from multiple missing teeth, they may still want to have a single tooth restoration performed for each missing tooth. However, if you have missing teeth that border each other, you may benefit more from an implant supported dental bridge. For this procedure, at least two implant fixtures are placed, one for the first missing tooth in the row and one for the last. Once successfully osseointegrated, an abutment will be attached to each implant fixture and the dental bridge connected at both points, completing the restoration.
If you are currently suffering from a full arch of missing teeth, it may still be possible for you to restore each and every one of your missing teeth with their own implant fixture and replacement tooth. However, this can be expensive and you may be better off with an implant supported overdenture. For this procedure, four to six implant fixtures are placed along your arch. Once in place and healed, an abutment is attached to each implant fixture and the overdenture connected at all points, completing the restoration.
As you can see, no matter how many missing teeth you may be dealing with, we have a solution using dental implants that can have you smiling once again. If you would like to learn more about dental implants and the treatments we offer using them, please contact our office and schedule a no-obligation consultation with Dr. Andre Hughes today.
